Melissa & Doug Wooden Toys - Christmas Wish List

Christmas is coming and already we have had the children telling their parent s what collection of toys they want from our selection of wooden toys. Since introducing the wooden toys both into our store and online the feedback from parents has been phenomenal and just shows you the classics never die.  From old school abacuses and pound a pegs to the new wooden cutting foods, its seems as though wooden toys are a real winner. Our collection of Melissa and Doug toys have been a huge hit and we thought we would share some of the best sellers and sure to be Christmas gifts with you. Not only great fun but all these wooden toys have great educational value to them and really help with toddler’s development.

This cutting food set has all kids entertained around the toy table and seems to be on all their Christmas lists if there not lucky enough to have them already.

Our classic sound puzzles are our best seller and always seem to put a smile on  a child's face.

On the theme of classic toys we would everyone to list their favourite childhood wooden toy to remind us of your childhood memories when life was stress free.

Sienna - Fashionista in the making

She may be 2 years old but she knows a thing or two about fashion...check out her fall wardrobe courtesy of SLK

SS12 Trend Report - Sneak Peek at Mini Rodini

I know we have just entered into AW11, but with LFW taking place its hard not to get side tracked! Sienna Loves Kai did thier SS12 buy in July this year so its lovely to watch the show and be able to see similarities in the range we picked.

The strong trends coming through for Spring Summer 12 has to be the tribal / Safari Look and the 1920s inspiration. I am also loving the warm shades of orange, the freshness of the sea foam greens and the classic monochrome tones that can be identified throughout.

One Brand at SLK has next season down to a tee! Mini Rodini SS12 range has managed to corporates all the trends in one fun packed collection. We look forward to see it in store early next year.

Back to Black - Nicole Ritchie with Harlow & Sparrow

As a child my Mother never put me in black when it came to clothing, I am not sure if it is to do with the fact I was born in the 80's but I was always seen in a more brighter colour palette. I recently bought Sienna a black dress and my mum was not impressed with my colour choice "the colour black is not for kids." She explained. Growing up in my household the colour black was seen as mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown only ever seeing my mum wearing all black to funerals.Has this ideology changed? For me defiantly. According to colour-wheel-pro.com Black also denotes strength and authority; it is considered to be a very formal, elegant and prestigious colour.  I personally don't feel its a colour that is to hard for kids clothing and brands like Baby K, Minti and Munster Kids share similar views. I love this picture of Nicole with her kids be inspired. Don't share the same view, please let us know your comments.

Suri Cruise Vs Shiloh Jolie Pitt

For a 6 year old Suri Cruise has one hell of a wardrobe! Being the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes its no wonder why renown Fashion designers are making mini replicas of their adult collection just for Miss Suri.  I sometimes watch my daughter Sienna prouncing around in my Jimmy Choo or holding my oversize Marc Jacob bag and think how fabulous it is that she loves Fashion at the age of 2! Sienna often spends time within my boutique in South West London and is always surrounded by luxury brands she is constantly asking to try on may different styles and looks. But...yes there is a but...those girly moments are short lived as soon as Kai (her big brother) is around! Sienna loves kai and often mimics everything kai does including watching football in an oversize Arsenal jersey. So do you think parents force or influence who their child becomes in the future through the clothes they put them in from a young age? If that's the case if i bought sienna kitten heel, a make up kit and always put her in dresses is she more likely to become a super girl diva? Or if i decide to take a leaf out of Angelina Jolie book and put Sienna in non gender specific clothing will that help in her journey to finding out who she is as she grows? Shiloh Pitt sports a short hair cut and is always pictured in trousers because her mum wants to protect her getting caught up it the Hollywood hype. I think Angie and Brad have the right idea.  These are very difficult questions and until i opened Sienna Loves Kai on Garratt Lane i always searched the high street for clothes that were non gender specific for my kid's. But that was purely for my preference, i wanted Sienna and Kai to be comfortable and i could not see sienna in a pouffy dress and kitten heels climbing on the jungle gym! At Sienna Loves Kai we sell comfortable clothing for fashion forward kids. Some of our brands such as Mini Rodini and Monkee Genes have a lot of pieces in there collection can be worn by both genders but are still trendy and fun.

I love this look x
